In our bathroom we have a framed, handwritten copy of 1 Corinthians 13 also known as the love chapter. This was a gift to Teresa and I from a friend named Don. Don was only a part of my life for about a year, but it was a very pivotal year for me in my ministry.
I was struggling with doubts and questions about ministry and God’s calling. Don was a committed Christian and had a deep love for the Lord and for Scripture. God used him to bring encouragement and spiritual nourishment at crucial point in my life.
Don entered our lives in a bit of an unusual and unexpected way, and as quickly as he entered our lives, he moved on to the next chapter of his life, and so did we. He was just who we needed at just the right time.
Has there been anyone like that in your life? Has God brought someone into your life at just the right time. In Genesis 14 Abraham is met by a someone named Melchizedek. He is a priest and the king of Salem (Later known as Jerusalem. This is the only place he appears in the historical record of Scripture. As quickly as he enters the picture, he leaves again.
And yet he meets Abraham at a very crucial juncture in his life. He brings encouragement and support, and reminds him of his priorities before Abraham has to make some very important decisions.
