There is a condition that afflicts 73.27% of males. We think we can always find a shortcut. Okay, I admit I made up that statistic. However, if someone were to do a study, I’m sure they would find the percentages close to that.
Just ask nearly any dude. We think we can get you there faster. Just turn here. I know its not on the map, but trust me. I don’t care what your GPS says. You heard about the guy who followed his GPS off a ramp over a demolished bridge and killed his wife, right? (Obviously one of the 26.73%) Just turn here. We’ll get there 20 minutes faster.
When it comes to our spiritual journey the statistics are much more staggering. 100% of all people think they know a shortcut or two. We think we can get where God wants us to be faster. We think we can accomplish God’s will our own way.
In Genesis 16, Abraham and Sarah fall into this trap. They take a shortcut to get to God’s promise and create a world of heartache.
