Throughout his journey to Jerusalem Jesus welcomed, engaged, and invited those that everyone else shunned and hated. Whether it was the Samaritans, who were regarded as unfaithful half-breeds, or lepers, who’s grotesque skin condition was wrongly judged as an indicator of their spiritual condition, or tax collectors, who were seen as traitors and thieves, Jesus called people to follow him that others didn’t even want in their neighborhood. What does this mean for us as we follow Jesus in our own lives.
