In the original Star Trek series the fearless crew of the Enterprise would find themselves in some overwhelming no-win situation. Captain Kirk would come up with some hair-brained plan to win. The logical Vulcan, Spock, would then spout the mathematical odds arrayed against them.
For instance, in “Errand of Mercy” this conversation takes place:
Kirk: What would you say the odds are on our getting out of here?
Spock: Difficult to be precise, Captain. I should say, approximately 7,824.7 to 1.
Kirk:: Difficult to be precise? 7,824 to 1?
Spock:; 7,824.7 to 1.
If Mr. Spock were calculating the odds facing Abraham in Genesis 14 I’m sure it would be a large number.
